Emerald Commons

After more than a year of construction and anticipation, Emerald Commons officially opened in December 2006. This building is Cleveland’s first newly constructed supportive housing project and will house 52 homeless, disabled individuals. For Emerald Commons photographs, please click here. Tenants began moving into Emerald Commons in December, and EDEN staff expect the building will soon reach its capacity. Each tenant resides in an efficiency apartment complete with basic furniture and, thanks to recent donations, household necessities. The building also features various amenities such as community, exercise, and education rooms; 24-hour front desk staff; support services; and more.

Emerald Commons was launched in part by the Housing First Initiative, and EDEN partnered with the Cleveland Housing Network to develop the project. The Veterans Adminstration, the Taskforce of Greater Cleveland, and Mental Health Services, Inc. are the service team for Emerald Commons. EDEN and these organizations are leading the fight to end long-term homelessness in our community.

Please visit this website in the future for additional updates concerning Emerald Commons and its tenants.

Special Thanks

The Cleveland-Akron Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi organized a reverse raffle for Emerald Commons on May 5, 2007. The event raised a total of $2,080 for Emerald Commons. EDEN extends gratitude to the Delta Sigma Pi members who worked so hard to create a successful fundraising event. For more information about the raffle, please view the Spring 2007 issue of EDEN News.
Thanks also to Neil Zaretsky for his donation.

EDEN recognizes the generosity of the following individuals, businesses, and community partners in contributing to the Emerald Commons household furnishing fund. Thanks to their generous donations, EDEN was able to furnish each Emerald Commons unit. Thanks for your support!
