EDEN management selected John Walsh for the June employee of the month award in recognition of his experience, his teamwork-oriented approach within the property management division, and his dedication to tenants and properties.
Prior to joining EDEN in January 2001, John worked as a manufacturing plant manager for more than a decade. He also used his skills at several other facilities, where his initiative and hard work quickly advanced each establishment into working order. But for the last six years, John has put his experience to use as an EDEN maintenance technician.
During those years, John has witnessed the agency grow and head in new directions. When EDEN recently restructured its departments and created a property management division, John was instrumental in unifying the staff teams with his commitment to teamwork. Clearly, John appreciates the cooperative working relationship within the property management department.
“We call each other if we need help,” he explains.
John travels to EDEN-owned properties on the East side of Cleveland to maintain units to complete a range of maintenance work, including plumbing, heating, electrical, and other services. “There’s no job we can’t do here,” he says.
While the work is challenging—John cites a heavy stream of work orders—it is also rewarding. Every unit that John works to maintain provides affordable housing for the low-income, mentally disabled population. “EDEN provides a service for consumers who are in need,” he explains.
John adds that he especially likes joking with the tenants and making them laugh. “It makes the day go faster,” he says.
That commitment to tenant services, as well as his experience and devotion to teamwork, makes John a very worthy candidate for the employee of the month award.
