In March, Laura Walter was named EDEN’s employee of the month in recognition of all her hard work answering the never-ending stream of information calls as well as successfully launching several new projects for EDEN. When asked about her favorite part of her job, Laura mentioned how much she enjoys writing articles for the newsletter and having the opportunity to be creative.
Laura has been instrumental in developing EDEN’s website as well as the quarterly newsletter. When she’s not answering one of the many calls that EDEN receives daily, she helps design the agency’s annual report or other publications.
When Executive Director Kathy Kazol introduced Laura to EDEN’s board of trustees, she commented that “Laura has really changed the face of this agency with the newsletter and website.” She also went on to say that “Laura has helped create a public presence for EDEN.”
Laura was chosen as employee of the month largely because of her diversity. She is able to juggle phone calls, incoming applications and website maintenance while still finding time to connect with staff and program participants to give EDEN’s newsletter a more personal touch with staff and tenant profiles. She also researches ongoing projects in the community and provides valuable information to our participants and community partners.
When asked what she likes most about working for EDEN, Laura replied, “I like being a part of an agency that is growing so rapidly and expanding its scope. Everyone at this agency can literally watch as Cleveland’s first supportive housing project is developed.”
Lastly, the rest of the community will be kept apprised of this project’s progress in large part to Laura’s commitment to her role as Information Specialist and all the qualities that make her a worthy recipient of the employee of the month honor.
